Dr. Juan Pablo Handal is a Honduran ophthalmologist, born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with training in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery.
He is an international member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), practicing in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, followed by residency training at the Barraquer Institute of America in Bogota, Colombia. He then received an International Clinical Fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at Eye Consultants of Atlanta under the mentorship of Dr. Alan Kozarsky, followed by a Surgical Anterior Segment Fellowship in COFCA (Clínica Oftalmológica del Caribe) in Barranquilla, Colombia where he was appointed Chief Fellow. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Handal has been married to his wife Lourdes for 8 years and they have a 6-year-old daughter, Sabina.
